Portrait of Letitia
Oil sketch in two hours

A South American beauty. 2005. Oil on canvas, 30x20 inches.
This portrait sketch was done in a single sitting of two hours.
I would like to have had longer, but I would not have made the painting much more complicated. I would have liked to emphasize the simplicity of the forms, by using fairly flat colour. The way the blue seems almost luminous is not an exaggeration caused by photoshop: it is actually like that. I do not fully understand why.
